The proposed sculpture is based on three plants (Saguaro, Barrel Cactus, and Pickly Pear), that are unique to Southern Arizona. The entire sculpture will be composed of metal plants and a desert floor. The piece will depict the desert as most people view it during day light hours. It will take on a new look, as it illuminates it's self in several areas through out the sculpture.

Multiple Light Emitting Diodes (LED's) will be placed with in the plants, ranging in a variety of colors. This will accomplish two things. First it will create illumination with out over powering the viewer and secondly, cast shadowing effects. The illumination is designed to run off a 12-volt rechargeable solar system. The panel, regulator, and battery will be incorporated into a fake rock, which will be placed with in 10' (feet) of the sculpture.

Desert floor: Composed of metal cut with a torch, hammered, textured, and welded. (Dimensions 6' L x 4' W x 1 ½' H)

Saguaro: Individually cut pieces of metal textured with a torch and welded together, will create the 3-dimensional ribs. The ribs will then be welded to the base. It will be lit from within, utilizing white LED's. Clear coat will be used as a finish. (Dimensions 8' H x 8” W @ base and 11” @ top)

Barrel Cactus: Cut pieces of metal, textured and welded together will create 3-dimensional ribs making up the body. This sculpture will be lit with blue LED's from within the body were as, yellow and red on top, giving the appearance of fruit. Finish will be composed of a clear coat. (Dimensions 18” H x 18” D).

Pickly Pear: Cut pieces of metal texture and welded together, creating the cactus pads. Each pad will then be welded together to create a life size Pickly Pear Cactus. Random pads will be illuminated from within, utilizing LED's of multiple colors. Sculpture will be clear coated. (Dimensions 3' L x 2” W x 2” H)

Overall dimensions of the sculpture will be (6' L x 4' W x 9 ½' H)
