Seed of Light

The “Seed of Light” is inspired by the cycle of life. The seed is a universe within a tiny living object. The seed contains the germ of life and represents hope, growth and possibilities of the future. The repeating elements and connected structures of the leaf, tree and seed shapes echo within one another. The spirals and the blue star sky symbolize an infinite world.
The seed/leaf shaped sculpture is constructed of mild steel. The front and back are flat pieces of steel with cut-out designs. There is green glass behind the leaf shapes. The stem/trunk cut out is backed with a diffusing screen. The starry sky consists of blue marbles. The seed within the seed is a large chunk of colored glass. The front and back panels are the same cut out pattern. The overall sculpture is approximately 6-8 inches deep. The sides have more blue marble stars. The plan is to incorporate the solar plant to power LED lights inside so the piece appears to glow from within. It would also have a transformer option so the sculpture can be plugged into a standard electrical outlet. This piece would utilize the rock that is to be provided with the solar power plant. The piece mounts securely to the base which can be bolted down. The rusted steel finish is sealed with a clear lacquer.
